“This is the time that the skills I learned from observing my grandfather came in handy.” Though Kenyanya did not get formal training on sculpting he has attended numerous training and workshops both locally and internationally, Kenyanya also undertook various courses that helped him polish his knowledge and skills in the field of sculpture. After high school he helped his parents who were handcraft dealers, mostly helping his father to cut stones and do rough sketch work, as time progressed he eventually started working on his own. As a child Kenyanya used to watch his grandfather sculpt with Keen interest. He grew up and took his primary studies and later joined high school. Peter Kenyanya Oendo is a contemporary African sculptor born and raised in Kisii, Kenya in 1977.
